Theatre Nurse

Theatre Nurse Job Requirements:

  1. Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution.
    • Active and valid nursing license (Registered Nurse) in the state or country of employment.
    • Specialized certification in perioperative nursing or operating room nursing (preferred).
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  2. Experience:
    • Minimum of [X] years of experience working as a Theatre Nurse or in an operating room setting.
    • Experience in various types of surgeries (e.g., general, orthopedic, cardiac, etc.).
    • Familiarity with pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care.
  3. Skills and Competencies:
    • In-depth knowledge of surgical procedures and aseptic techniques.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with surgeons, anesthetists, and other medical staff.
    • Ability to stay calm and focused in high-pressure and emergency situations.
    • Strong attention to detail and precision in handling surgical instruments and equipment.
    • Ability to prepare and maintain the sterile field during surgeries.
    • Proficiency in using healthcare software and maintaining accurate patient records.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  4. Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to stand for long periods during surgeries.
    • Capability to assist with moving and positioning patients during surgical procedures.
    • Physical and mental stamina to handle high-stress and physically demanding situations.
  5. Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Prepare operating rooms and ensure that all necessary equipment and instruments are sterilized and ready.
    • Assist the surgical team before, during, and after surgery by passing instruments, sutures, and other items as needed.
    • Monitor the patient’s vital signs during surgery and report any abnormalities to the surgical team.
    • Ensure the operating room maintains strict adherence to infection control and sterilization protocols.
    • Provide post-operative care to patients, monitoring recovery and ensuring patient comfort.
    • Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
    • Document all relevant details during surgeries, including patient information, procedures, and outcomes.
  6. Availability:
    • Full-time or part-time positions, with flexibility for on-call duties, weekends, nights, and holidays.
    • Willingness to work in different healthcare settings, including hospitals, surgical centers, or clinics.
